STAYC Explain Why They Got Rid Of The Leader Position

STAYC appeared on Common Thursday's Youtube channel for the promotion of "2 LOVE".

The group explained the reason why they unanimously eliminated the leader system two to three years after their debut.

The video showed STAYC appearing as guests and engaging in a conversation with Jo Hyun-ah. Jo Hyun-ah asked, “Didn’t STAYC have a leader?” and the members revealed that while there used to be one, there is currently none.

In response to the question, “Was the decision to remove the leader the decision of the other five members or the leader?” the STAYC members revealed that it was everyone’s decision, stating that they unanimously abolished the leader system.

Yoon explained that Sumin had been the leader before the leadership system was abolished, stating, “I think we lost the leader around our second or third year. The first reason was that Sumin was starting to find it a bit overwhelming to lead the team alone, and since our members were also in their second or third year, we felt we had grown enough to help and look after each other. So, we spoke to the company, and with the intention of becoming each other's leaders, we eliminated the official leader position and now take turns handling the HR and song introduction roles.”

Talk about the new song ' 2 L0VE ' also followed. Yoon explained, “The meaning of '2 L0VE' was inspired by tennis. It is 2-0, and in tennis, that zero point is called 'love.' So, it is a song about unrequited love that conveys the meaning of continuously serving with a 2-0 lead, but the opponent does not return it.”
